The official logo for the 2024 International One Metre World Championships has been wholeheartedly endorsed by the ARYA. The logo designed by Michael Betts of Cooper McKenzie Marketing, one of our Silver Sponsors of the World Championships, has pedigree when it comes to logo design for internationally recognised regattas, having also conceptualised the past six Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race logos for the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club of Brisbane.
The logo was designed to be unique and fun, with the elements of Queensland's warm sunshine, oaka landscapes, and the cool blue waters of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, which is just off the coast, right on Gladstone's doorstep. The text contains Australia's national sporting colours of Green & Gold and the roo... well, you can't get any more Aussie than that!
Grant Cooper, Director of CMM (and also IOM enthusiast) explained, "We wanted to design something that was really Aussie, something that gave a feeling of surf, sand, sunshine and a typical Queensland feel. We wanted to step away from the traditional look of your standard yachting logo and make something unique and fun. It's almost got a little 'retro' feel about it, like the Rip Curl and Quicksilver T-shirt styles of the 80s & 90's and something that's going to look good on a T-Shirt - or perhaps even a terry toweling bucket hat! I can't wait to wear it!
